Museum Mpu Purwa was originally an elementary school building known as SDN Mojolangu 2. As time passed, numerous statues and historical artifacts were discovered scattered throughout Malang City.
In 2004, the site began its role as a Cultural Heritage Rescue Center, serving as a place to store and protect historical findings.
In 2018, it was officially inaugurated as Museum Mpu Purwa and opened to the public.
The name "Mpu Purwa" is derived from a respected historical figure in Javanese culture, symbolizing wisdom and heritage.
Today, the museum stands as an educational destination, offering visitors the opportunity to explore and appreciate the rich cultural history of Malang and East Java.
